What a great start we had to December! Our Fun Run for Woodview
Elementary was a success! Thank you for all of your generosity and support!
Also thanks to all who donated for Toys for Tots! The students had a great time
sharing the holiday spirit and joy with others!
Check out what we are learning this week..
Reading: Readers understand that inner dialogue is a craft element
that authors use to develop the character. Inner dialogue is when a character
is thinking to himself or herself. Authors usually do not use quotation marks
or italics for inner dialogue. It should be written normally!
Writing: This week in writing we are giving the students some free
choice to use the techniques and genres of writing that they have learned about
all semester! The choices include: Science/Social Studies topic writing (nonfiction
books), letters (to Santa, elves, family and friends), personal narratives and
holiday writing activities! The students have learned so many writing formats
and styles and we can’t wait to see what they choose!
Math: In math we are moving forward and adding some steps in our
bar model problems! We will continue to work with word problems in both
addition and subtraction and will dive into 2-step problems!
Social Studies: We will learn about communities: urban, suburban
and rural. How are they different? How are they similar? What do we find in
each? What is it like living in each community?
Science: We will continue our study of balance and motion! We will
look at rolling objects and how ramps/wheels affect motion.
